Steam heating runs off of boilers or radiators. These types of heating systems are not typically put into newer homes; however there are several dwellings in our Central NJ area that have steam heating systems. This form of heating is efficient in buildings that hold multiple families and residences such as apartment complexes, townhomes, and other buildings.
There are great benefits to these types of heating systems. There are not a lot of parts that are moving, and because of this, repairs and replacements of parts do not happen too often. These systems work by having a boiler warm the water with gas, typically, and it turns that gas into steam. This vapor then journeys through a system of pipes that emit the heat into the rooms where they’re connected. When the vapor cools off, it turns back into water and goes back to the boiler where it’s reheated.
